Melford

William IV truncheon decorated with a royal cipher and crown over the word 'MELFORD'

This piece is interesting as a good example of how the owner has tried to extend the usefulness of the item by changing the cipher to reflect the change from William IV to Victoria.

Close inspection will show how half the 'W' and the 'V' have been carefully scratched off to make 'V I R'
