Northamptonshire



Northampton

This piece is decorated with a crown, cipher and cartouche in the Parker style. It is numbered '49' within the cartouche and stamped with the maker's name 'W.Lea' in the end of the handle.

This piece was purchased with other Northamptonshire related items and I have also owned a similar piece that was additionally stamped in the handle 'N'hampton'.

The characteristic to look for in this particular piece is the green colour used in the base of the crown and the style of writing used for the number in the cartouche.

Unusual Victorian truncheon by Parker inscribed in gold with 'Northamptonshire'.

The reverse impressed with a large crown over 'VR', 'N'.

In addition to the makers name, the end of the handle is also impressed with the number 149.
