Middlesex

Grosvenor Place

William IV truncheon decorated with a lion surmounting a crown over the royal arms and 'WR IV' cipher.

Below this is inscribed 'Grosvenor Place District'

Grosvenor Place is adjacent to Buckingham Palace.

Islington

William IV parish constable's truncheon for St. Mary's, Islington.

Islington

This style of truncheon is well known and examples can be seen illustrated in other reference books.

It is inscribed with 'St. M.I.' over a cartouche with '19' within.

It is stamped in the end of the handle with the makers name Parker, 233 Holborn.

Middlesex

A charming Georgian truncheon decorated with the arms for Middlesex.

Although these arms could also be ascribed to Essex it is usual where no other evidence exists to assume a piece is Middlesex.

The arms are worth noting as these often appear on London truncheons.

Streatham

Plain truncheon with dark green body, inscribed 'Streatham , Special Constable'.
